DIY Painted Photobooth Backdrop

Friends don't let friends have photobooths without a statement-making backdrop. Fact. With so many easy and cute options to DIY your own backdrop, you can create and customize backdrops for any occasion! See how I DIY-ed this tropical photobooth backdrop below! #TropicLikeItsHot

Materials
  • large piece of white fabric
  • pencil
  • freezer paper
  • scissors
  • X-acto
  • iron
  • acrylic or fabric paint
  • paint brushes

Steps
  1. Cover the surface of your work area to protect it from potential paint spills.
  2. Spread out your piece of fabric and iron out any obvious wrinkles.
  3. Draw desired designs on the paper side of freezer paper (shiny side down)and cut them out with an X-acto.
*TIP* Fold your freezer paper in half before you cut out the stencil so you get two stencils instead of one. I cut out 18 individual monstera leaf stencils before I had this epiphany -___-
  4. Repeat until you have enough stencils.
  5. Iron your stencils onto your fabric, shiny side facing down.
  6. Use fabric paint or acrylic paint to fill in the stencil areas.
  7. Let the paint dry before peeling off the stencils.
  8. Hang your banner with (lots of) tape!

I also cut out letters from gold foil cardstock paper and created an easy banner using twine to hang across the backdrop :) The pictures don't capture how awesome the gold paper is :/ For another DIY freezer paper project tutorial, click here !
